Ecclesiastes 4:9

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up.

Ellie and Brendan were married at the church they met at. I have known Ellie and her family for many, many years. Her mother worked in the school I work in, I taught her middle son (who also famously fractured his ankle in my class), and I was lucky enough to coach and teach Ellie all four years of her high school career.

The details surrounding their day were simple. There were so many handmade projects, including the “welcome” door that had name tags on it and there’s a funny story that goes with that! Ellie’s mom always wanted a beautiful victorian door, Ellie wanted a door for her seating chart. Come to find out, this beautiful antique door was in the basement of the house Ellie grew up in! Ellie’s DIY Pinterest skills are amazing, she made the bouquets from a video she found and all out of fake florals, her father is quite the woodworker and made all of the boxes and centerpieces for their day.

The Pastor who married Ellie and Brendan knows them both very well. Ellie and Brendan work with the youth group at their church. It was through their youth group and a close friend of Brendan’s that introduced them. It is hard to not believe that fate and love at first sight had something to do with their relationship and trusting in God to lead them to one another. Pretty much from the day they met, they just knew. Ellie’s oldest neice and nephew,  took off down the isle to the alter when they realized just what they were doing in the wedding. Brendan had a hard time holding back his tears as he laid eyes on Ellie and her father at the other end of the church. The service was perfect and simple and very Brendan and Ellie. After their vows, exchange of rings and their first kiss as husband and wife, these two skipped back down the isle to exit the church. Everyone as witness to their testamate to one another waited for them for one of the most epic bubble exits I have seen yet!

Then we headed to Wickham Park. I have run there as a high school cross country runner, but I have never stopped to take in the beauty at the top of the green monster. Ellie and Brendan were married in the log cabin at top the mountain. It overlooks the Hartford skyline. Oh and the sunset that night, could not have been more amazing! There were filters of light coming through the sky to light up Hartford in the background. After formals and cocktail hour, introductions, toasts and cake all happened at once. Ellie’s dad wrapped the cabin in white lights to give off a beautiful ambiance for dancing later that evening. What a perfect celebration of two of the most amazing people I have ever met. Together, I have no doubt, you’ll do amazing things! Cheers to the next one hundred years!

I started my morning by meeting up with Jennifer and her bridesmaids at her parents house, just down the road from The Waveny House. They were all so relaxed and just enjoying being together and with her parents. Kevin prepared for their day at their home and then met us at Waveny House. It was a rainy morning, but by the time their first look rolled around, the rain had stopped. Kevin and Jennifer saw each other for the first time on the well manicured, private path on the way down to the rose garden. Their reactions to seeing one another are just priceless, they lit up and there was pure joy! It was such a sweet moment.

Right after family formals we spent some time wandering around Waveny Park. The Waveny House is simply stunning and provides so many great photo opportunities throughout the grounds of the park. It stayed cloudy, so the pretty leaves that were turning really popped in the pictures. Jennifer and Kevin headed back upstairs to the bridal suite to relax together with their family as guests arrived for the ceremony.

The ceremony was sweet and very traditional and was held inside under the patio in case of rain. The covered patio is a perfect option in case you might be worried about bad weather on your wedding day. They exchanged vows before joining their guests at cocktail hour. During cocktail hour, a family friend provided the vocal entertainment by singing a few classics. The reception rocked on into the evening with a fantastic dinner, a sweet cake cutting and music by Paul of James Daniel Entertainment. Here are some of my favorites highlighting their wedding day! Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Everything about Patrick and Jessica’s wedding day was completely original and very different from all the other weddings I have photographed. When Patrick and Jessica first told me where their wedding was going to be held, then they told me it was a “mario themed” wedding, I was not sure how this whole thing would turn out. Some weddings have color themes, or beach themes, their wedding was everything super mario bros! Through the planning for Jessica and Patrick, everything came together. The center pieces and the flowers were paper, there were gold coins spread throughout, and even the cake was decorated as if it was a mario world.

The wedding took place down by the beach at Quassy Amusement Park. It was the perfect backdrop for a wedding ceremony to be held. Upon their exit as husband and wife for the first time, guests threw Captain Crunch Berries as they walked out! This was a complete surprise to to them and the look on their faces was priceless! Then, after they were married, we walked through the theme park with the bridal party, rode a train together and sat in matching colored tea cups! Quassy had such a cool selection of places to go to take pictures of the newly married couple. One of the really cool benefits to having a wedding at Quassy, the rides! While we were taking bridal party photos, the guests that were at the wedding were able to spend time in the park, riding the rides before heading back for dinner and dancing at the lakeside pavilion. What an awesome wedding! Congrats to the #superemmersonparty!

wedding day: September 23rd, 2017

Caitlin and Mike’s wedding last weekend had beautiful, a bit on the hot side, summer weather. Caitlin prepared for her wedding day with her best girl friends in the hotel, Mike got ready at his parents house, right down the street from the church. Both Caitlin and Mike have some wonderful friends that surrounded them that day that helped make their day perfect. Caitlin’s bouquet was wrapped in with some of her mothers wedding dress. She also had a classic headband made from her mother’s dress as well to wear on her wedding day. These small, but super sweet details made Caitlin’s classic bridal look really come together.

They were married by the Priest at St. Edward the Confessor Church. His sense of humor and honesty about being married was spot on and very touching. They had a few readings by both mom’s, lit a unity candle, exchanged rings and were married!  We stayed at the church to take some classic bridal family formals after the ceremony ended. Then they headed out of the church and were surrounded by bubbles being blown by their closest family and friends! The rest of the afternoon was held at Candlewood Inn. Bridal party portraits, family and BrideGroom portraits all took place on the stunning grounds. The dance floor was kept rocking by only the best, “Big Daddy”, from James Daniel Entertainment. Such a beautiful wedding and an amazing afternoon spent with this nice couple! Cheers to the next 1,000 years!
